Big in stature this beautiful black stallion has convinced for years by his continuous athletic performance in the dressage arena.
Being placed second in the finals of the dressage VSN-Trophy in 2000 as a three year old, Painted Black I continued his performance in 2001 by three starts combined with three wins at the stallion competitions in NL ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud. Hence, he was official winner of his year. In 2002 Painted Black I represented the Netherlands for the World Breeding Dressage Young Horse Championships in Verden/GER as a five year old followed by several wins under Hans Peter Minderhoud in 2003 in medium advanced level in Zuidbroek. These wins have been followed by vice champion title at the World breeding Dressage Young Horse Championship in Verden/GER ridden by Anky van Grunsven.
As part of the following stallion competitions he has been proving his ascendancy by winning all four of them. Through the following years, he has established himself as series winner in international Grand Prix level as well as in Worldcup-competitions. In 2011 Painted Black I was taken over by Morgan Barbançon Mestre and continued his highly successful career for the Spanish national team. It is striking how consistently Painted Black I passes on his type as well as movements of gaits. His offspring are competing in extraordinarily high numbers up to Grand Prix level while his licensed stallion sires Aint’t it Black, Black Painted, Bon Bravour, Cupido, Don Dynamo, Ebony as well as Enzo Ferrari are high in international demand themselves. Painted Black I has been honored by the Dutch federation with being titled ‘keur’, which is solely awarded for stallions with extraordinary heredity. Numerous offspring is successful up to advanced dressage level in Germany.
His sire Gribaldi, international successful competed by Edward Gal, was champion stallion at the Trakehner licensing in 1995 and Trakehner stallion of the year in 2008. He produced high quality horses principally in the KWPN-breeding, such as the legendary stallion Totilas. He has been leading the WBFSH-dressage sire ranking in 2014. His dam is the ‘keur’ mare Litchy, shown in competition up to advanced dressage level herself and who produced with the younger, similarly black full brother ‘Painted Black II’ another licensed stallion who has become a successful sire in Sweden.
